A New Pop-Up Furniture Factory training people in D.I.Y and carpentry to upcycle 500 pieces of furniture to go into homes of those in need.
This pop up facility helps form one part of the MiFriendly Cities project.
The project supports the integration of migrants and refugees in the West Midlands. As part of the project, Coventry University and Fab Lab Coventry have been tasked with training 300 people in DIY, carpentry and digital fabrication, including upcycling furniture and undertaking home-makeovers for local people in need.
The Pop Up Furniture Factory is fully supported not only through the partners on the MiFriendly Cities project, but also by Coventry University’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities, who have donated a disused workshop space to make and finish the furniture items ready to be placed into the houses of those most in need.
