What is Digital Fabrication?

Digital Fabrication is a process of using a computer controlled machine to cut out specific designs.


What Will You Be Doing on This Project?

You will be following a tailored course teaching you how you can use technology to make almost anything, learn how to create your own 2D computer designs, and give you practical opportunities to put the theory into practice!

This is a *FREE course for anyone wishing to find out more about the world of fabrication, use of materials and to learn about how we can use technology to make almost anything!

Participants also get to make one or more items to take home at the end of the training.

Where possible Fab Lab will support you to design and make something relevant to an area of employment you may be considering. Or you may like to make something personal to you. You can also gain a qualification which we would encourage everyone to take advantage of. Participants will be able to use this qualification to strengthen their CV and general job prospects.


How long is the Course?

Delivered at your pace over 4days at FabLab Coventry:

FabLab Coventry,

Unit 27,

City Arcade,

Coventry City Centre,

CV1 3HX.

Training will normally be delivered in groups of 8 participants.

Each day is normally 10am-2pm with a short break for lunch.

The programme is delivered by an experienced team of facilitators.


Who is it aimed at?

This course is FREE for anyone currently not in employment.

Participants must be over the age of 16years and live within Coventry (CV1-CV6 postcode) to be eligible for the programme.

We encourage anyone to take advantage of this free course.

In reality, the FabLab training is also useful in everyday life within the home and day to day activities.

This really is the fun side of learning whilst gaining qualifications.

Progression Route? Where to After This?

Following successful completion of this programme you will have several options open to you:

You could continue the study and take up a Level 2 qualification in Digital Fabrication.

Gain knowledge and training on setting up a business or social enterprise.

You also gain a Free FabLab Coventry Membership!
