Coventry Life Festival, launched due to a new partnership between EIT Health, Coventry University, Coventry City Council, Age UK Coventry and Coventry Older Voices, is the first of its king in the West Midlands, happening on Sunday 1 October where everyone in Coventry is invited to learn about the art of growing old. Bring your family and friends with you, whatever their age, and bridge the generation gap by participating in a day of fun activities!
The Coventry Life Festival is part of a campaign to make Coventry an age-friendly city, being held at Fargo Village, on Far Gosford Street on 1st October, featuring a variety of activities including exercise classes, inspirational talks, dance workshops and much more, happening 11am – 4pm.
The first ever festival to celebrate Coventry’s older residents and with so much happening throughout the day you would not want to miss out!
Executive Director for the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University, Professor Mike Hardy, said: “We are so pleased and excited to be able to welcome Coventry Life Festival in October. This is a big step in the City’s work to become an age friendly city and is a special opportunity to work across Coventry communities.
“There will be a wide variety of fun activities and events going on throughout the two days providing Coventry’s older citizen’s opportunities to have fun, get more support for their needs and have a great day out with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone on the day.”
Chief Executive for Age UK Coventry, Moira Pendlebury, said: “Coventry Life festival will be an event unlike any other that has come to Coventry and will be a chance to bring communities together and celebrate life.
“We have a unique range of activities taking place on the days and encourage people to join us for a fun filled day celebrating life and the fact that we are all ageing.”
Cabinet member for Public Health at Coventry City Council, Cllr Kamran Caan, said: “This is the first festival of its kind in Coventry and in the Midlands overall and we are so excited for Coventry Life festival to take place.
“The festival celebrates Coventry’s older population as well as life itself and is open to people of all ages and we look forward to sharing more exciting details with the public.”
